NY-NJ Harbor Estuary

The Hudson River Foundation is an environmental organization dedicated to advancing the health and understanding of the Hudson River, its estuary, and surrounding watershed. It supports science, restoration, and public engagement, helping researchers, community organizations, and public agencies develop knowledge and take informed action. Its work addresses priorities including restoring signature fisheries, improving habitats and water and sediment quality, expanding public access, encouraging stewardship, and responding to climate change.

The Foundation offers a broad range of grant and research programs, including Hudson River Fund research grants, undergraduate fellowships, habitat restoration and community resilience funding, and monitoring initiatives. It also supports specialized projects focused on wetlands, fisheries, eel monitoring, and watershed greening. Through the NY-NJ Harbor & Estuary Program, the organization convenes partners, advances shared environmental goals, and publishes action agendas and State of the Estuary reports. Its resources include environmental monitoring information, funded research, publications, newsletters, seminars, conferences, and training opportunities.
