About Hugh Lane
Hugh Lane Gallery, located in Dublin's City Centre, is home to an extraordinary collection of modern and contemporary art. Originally named the Municipal Gallery of Modern Art, the gallery was founded by Sir Hugh Lane in 1908 as part of Ireland's Celtic Revival Movement. The collection showcases an impressive array of Irish and international art, including iconic works by renowned artists like Manet, Monet, Degas, and Francis Bacon.
Visitors can also explore the stunning Francis Bacon Studio, which has been preserved exactly as it was when relocated from London to Dublin in 1998. The gallery is housed in the beautiful Charlemont House, built in 1763, which creates a unique setting for the artworks on display.
