Hugo Dias

Hugo Dias is a software engineer based in Porto, Portugal, whose work focuses on Web3, open-source software, and the technologies that support decentralized applications. With a master’s degree in Computer Science and Networks Engineering from the University of Porto, he has contributed to open-source projects since 2010. His interests include the web, browsers, distributed networks, high-performance web applications, and developer experience.

Dias is the creator of nft.storage and web3.storage, services designed to help people store data using decentralized technologies. His projects and contributions span Filecoin, IPFS, libp2p, UCAN, multiformats, and IPNS. He has also worked on the Filecoin specification and helped develop tools for connecting Filecoin with applications and wallets, including Filsnap and iso-filecoin. His work includes software packages, protocol research, specifications, and integrations for developers.

Previously, he worked at Protocol Labs and Fission, contributing to decentralized storage and authorization technologies. Through his blog, projects, talks, and open-source work, Dias shares practical tools and ideas for building a more open, capable web.
