About HUHIV
CAHIV is the Croatian Association for HIV and viral hepatitis, a non-governmental, non-politic, non-profit organization founded in 1999. Their main objective is to prevent the spread of HIV, viral hepatitis, and sexually transmitted diseases, while also providing support and appropriate medical and social treatment to those affected.
CAHIV plays a vital role in prevention, education, and support for individuals living with HIV/AIDS or viral hepatitis. They offer counseling, testing centers, and self-support groups, ensuring that people receive the necessary medical, social, and legal aid. They actively engage in educating young people and the general population about HIV, hepatitis, and the associated stigma and discrimination.
The organization collaborates with healthcare professionals, institutions, and other NGOs. They focus on early detection of blood-borne infections, outreach programs for high-risk populations, and awareness campaigns. Their achievements include significant progress in prevention efforts, community-based support centers, changes in discriminatory provisions, and the inclusion of antiretroviral drugs in reimbursement lists.
CAHIV's strategic directions revolve around prevention and care for patients. They aim to reduce the incidence of diseases through comprehensive prevention programs and provide interdisciplinary care for individuals with HIV, viral hepatitis, and related health issues. By integrating with public institutions and working closely with civil society, CAHIV effectively addresses the health needs of the community and ensures the well-being of those affected by HIV and viral hepatitis.
