About Huis van de Nijmeegse Geschiedenis
Football Memories is a unique project offered by the Huis van de Nijmeegse Geschiedenis in collaboration with NEC Maatschappelijk. Starting from September 27, 2023, this project aims to create a better sense of well-being for elderly individuals with dementia. The Goffertstadion serves as the venue for monthly gatherings where seniors with dementia are welcomed. During these meetings, memories are revisited through old images from Nijmegen's football history and special guests. All volunteers involved in this project have received training from Alzheimer Nederland.
Recognizing the increasing number of individuals affected by dementia, Football Memories aims to make a positive impact on the lives of elderly individuals with dementia or loneliness-related issues in the Nijmegen region. Through the use of active heritage, such as old photos and program booklets, this project helps preserve their stories, which are captured and shared by a Nijmegen-based artist-in-residence. By becoming a volunteer or participant in Football Memories, individuals can contribute to this innovative initiative. This project is made possible with the support of Stichting RCOAK and Stichting Preventie en Innovatie Gezondheidszorg Nijmegen. Stay updated with our newsletter for information on exhibitions, lectures, and activities. Welcome to the Huis van de Nijmeegse Geschiedenis, a place where everyone can learn and share about the history of the oldest city in the Netherlands.
