About Human Cell Atlas
**Human Cell Atlas (HCA)**
The Human Cell Atlas (HCA) is a pioneering global consortium dedicated to mapping every cell type in the human body, with the aim of revolutionizing our understanding of human health and disease. Founded in 2016, HCA has rapidly expanded, boasting over 3,900 members from more than 2,000 institutions across 100 countries. The mission of HCA is to create comprehensive reference maps of human cells, serving as essential tools for diagnosing, monitoring, and treating illnesses.
Currently, the HCA is assembling the first draft of the Atlas through 18 Biological Networks that focus on critical organs and tissues, including the lung, heart, liver, and immune system. This open initiative is poised to lead to significant breakthroughs in medical science, enhancing our capability to understand complex biological systems. HCA fosters collaboration and community engagement through events, publications, and resources, making it a vital player in the future of healthcare and biological research.
