About Humane Society Rome
The Humane Society of Rome, New York, Inc., is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing shelter, food, and care to unwanted cats and dogs in the Mohawk Valley and surrounding areas. Since 1956, we have been promoting the adoption of rescued, abandoned, abused, or neglected animals into safe and loving homes. Our programs and services include acting as a safe haven for animals in transition, advocating for animal rights, working to end overpopulation, cruelty, abuse, and neglect, and educating the public on compassion and responsibility towards animals.
We also educate school-aged children on the humane treatment of animals and lobby for animal rights legislation. Our shelter hours are Tuesday to Saturday from 11:00am to 4:30pm, and our PetSmart Adoption Center in New Hartford is open Monday to Friday from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, and Saturday to Sunday from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. Join us in our mission to provide a better life for animals in need
