Humanitas AI Center is a healthcare research and innovation team based within the Humanitas complex near Milan. Founded in 2019, it brings together data scientists, doctors, digital experts, and managers to combine clinical and technical knowledge in a multidisciplinary approach. The center develops AI-based solutions intended to improve healthcare, support research, and help clinicians make decisions. Its work aims to enhance diagnostic processes, reduce the time and costs involved in care management, and improve the patient journey.

The team’s expertise spans data science and omics, computer vision, natural language processing, and generative AI. Its applications include analyzing medical images and videos, integrating clinical and genomic data, and extracting insights from unstructured electronic health records. The center works on projects involving synthetic data, personalized medicine, haematological diseases, cancer treatment response, and medical anomaly detection. It reports more than 30 ongoing projects and over 70 publications, and collaborates through research initiatives and partnerships. The center operates alongside Humanitas Research Hospital, a specialized teaching and research hospital, and Humanitas University.
