About Humanitext
Humanitext is a research-led AI platform exploring how technology can support textual research and reading in the humanities. Led by university researchers in classics, the project develops its own applications and publishes articles that connect digital tools with close engagement with primary sources. Its services include Antiqua, which lets users ask questions about Greek and Roman literature and traces answers to supporting passages, and Aozora, a conversational way to explore more than 17,000 works from Japan’s Aozora Bunko, with citations and links to original texts.
Humanitext OCR converts images and PDFs into usable text, supporting batch processing, line-by-line proofreading, and searchable PDF creation. GEO combines a timeline and map to visualize the lives, places, and works of ancient authors, with source-grounded question answering about ancient cities. Humanitext Reader presents Greek and Latin classics sentence by sentence alongside English, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean translations, supplemented by dictionaries and grammatical notes. The site also features research news, essays, project updates, and articles on classical literature and digital humanities.
