The Danish Institute for Human Rights (DIHR) is an independent state-funded institution that promotes and protects human rights in Denmark and internationally. As Denmark's national human rights institution, DIHR also serves as a national equality body for race, ethnicity, and gender. In the disability area, DIHR plays a crucial role in promoting and monitoring the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

While DIHR does not have the mandate to monitor and report on human rights in other countries, it utilizes its extensive experience and knowledge to support the development of stronger human rights systems globally. DIHR cooperates with various stakeholders, including ministries, justice systems, police forces, civil society organizations, companies, and universities in other countries, fostering diplomatic and critical dialogue to improve the human rights situation. With legitimacy, a local approach, research capacity, and a proven track record, DIHR works towards sustainable change, both nationally and internationally.
