Hummingbird Halo

Hummingbird Halo is a Sonoma County, California initiative focused on sustainable farming, ethical relationships with living systems, and natural burial. Founded by Dave and Lisa West, it has taught sustainable and symbiotic farming techniques since July 2011, including through monthly tours. Its burial service offers people the option of being buried beneath a tree they choose, creating a living place for family and friends to visit. The organization also provides secluded campsites for loved ones and says it offers low-cost burials to people in need within Sonoma County.

Education and ethical stewardship are central to Hummingbird Halo’s mission. It aims to share practical farming knowledge, encourage symbiosis with nature, and maintain ethical standards in its work. The initiative reports that all donations go toward the farm and that nobody has been paid. Its efforts have received media coverage and support from individual and corporate donors.
