Hummingbird Pictures

Hummingbird Pictures is an educational and photography-focused website devoted to the beauty and behavior of hummingbirds, especially in Arizona and nearby regions. Created by Maria Mahar and Thomas Strich, it shares images, video, and accessible information for audiences of all ages. Visitors can explore hummingbird species that nest in the United States, learn about their migration, flight, nesting, and interactions, and browse articles on the site’s blog. The collection features both common and less frequently seen birds, including Anna’s, Allen’s, Broad-billed, Black-chinned, Ruby-throated, and Magnificent hummingbirds.

The site also helps readers bring hummingbirds into their own outdoor spaces, with guidance on attracting them and content about feeders and perches. Its featured product, Hover: Hummingbirds in the United States, is an interactive ebook for families that includes photographs, HD video, slow-motion footage, and simple, engaging information. Hummingbird Pictures offers free hummingbird coloring pages and provides interactive presentations for schools and community groups. Together, these resources invite people to observe, learn about, and enjoy hummingbirds.
