Hus Sünschien

Hus-Sünschien is a residential care home in Silberstedt, Schleswig-Holstein, providing a supportive place to live for children and young people aged 6 to 18. Since 2009, its team has operated Schleswig-Holstein’s first diabetes-focused residential group for young people. The home accommodates up to 12 residents and also welcomes children with other conditions, including cystic fibrosis, coeliac disease and neurodermatitis.

The residence, known as “Hus-Sünschien,” comprises three connected buildings, renovated and modernised from 2004 onward. Its living, sleeping and bathroom facilities are designed for the residents, while the management couple lives on site. Day-to-day care is provided by the resident managers and seven additional educators. The team brings experience in supporting young people through their concerns and challenges, with an emphasis on respectful relationships, sensitivity and appropriate boundaries. Staff also receive external practice guidance and ongoing professional development as needed.
