Yayasan Hutanriau is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to accompanying villages and communities around forests in their efforts to improve their livelihoods sustainably. They achieve this by managing natural resources responsibly. Their main focus is on overcoming deforestation and forest fires by providing economic opportunities and suitable livelihoods, which transform the behavior and perception of communities towards forests.

Hutanriau firmly believes that optimizing the livelihoods of communities living in and around forests is a strategic move against deforestation and climate change. This maneuver also contributes to sustainable development and socio-economic justice in the management of natural resources. As a result, Hutanriau is a reference point for realizing the aspirations of a prosperous society and well-preserved forests.

They implement their programs by placing staff according to the needs, and when a program requires a large number of staff, they recruit new staff from volunteers. Hutanriau begins their programs by analyzing data and assessing the local community's needs, building sustainable livelihoods based on the resources they already have. They strengthen communities around forests to safeguard their rights to natural resources by optimizing the non-timber forest product's benefits.

Yayasan Hutanriau, established in 2015 and registered with the Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights, operates as an intermediary between Forest Management Units (KPH) and local communities at the site level. They support Indigenous and local communities in managing natural resources and strive for transparency, accountability, and public participation in natural resource management
