Huurcommissie

The Huurcommissie is an independent and impartial Dutch body that helps tenants and landlords resolve housing rental disputes. It assesses disagreements according to applicable laws and regulations and issues decisions that both parties must follow. Its work covers matters including rent levels, property maintenance and service charges, offering a formal route to address issues that may otherwise be difficult to resolve.

The organisation provides tools and information for different users, including tenants in social, mid-market and private-sector housing, landlords and municipalities. Its Rent Check helps users calculate the maximum rent for a social rental home, room, mobile home or pitch. The Defects Check helps tenants determine whether damage or a fault in their home may qualify as a defect that the landlord should repair.

Through the MijnHuurcommissie online service, users can start a case, track its progress and provide information. The Huurcommissie also explains how proceedings work, provides access to earlier decisions, and publishes guidance on policy, housing rules and legislation.
