HvO Grafrath

Helfer vor Ort Grafrath (HvO) is a volunteer emergency-response initiative serving Grafrath and nearby communities. Its mission is to provide prompt, enhanced first aid while an ambulance or other emergency services are on the way, helping ensure that residents receive timely medical attention. The team includes specially trained first-aid responders as well as professional emergency and paramedic staff who volunteer their time. Depending on the situation, members can begin urgent measures such as controlling bleeding, providing oxygen, performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation and delivering early defibrillation.

Alongside responding to medical emergencies, HvO Grafrath provides first-aid and medical cover at local events, working with community groups and other emergency organisations. The initiative welcomes people interested in joining the team and holds monthly meetings for prospective volunteers. Supporters can also contribute through the Förderverein and other forms of assistance. Based in Grafrath, the organisation emphasises community service, preparedness and cooperation, with the guiding promise: “We help until the ambulance arrives.”.
