HygieneRatings is an online directory that helps people check food hygiene ratings for businesses across the UK. Built on official Food Standards Agency data, the service covers more than 614,000 recorded food businesses, including restaurants, takeaways, pubs, shops and supermarkets. Users can search by business name, postcode, town or city, or explore listings by council and county.

An interactive map displays business locations and ratings, with filters for ratings from zero to five and for businesses that have not yet been rated. Search results can also be browsed by criteria such as lowest rating, recent inspection or proximity to a selected location. Business listings provide details including the address, rating and, where available, inspection date.

The site explains that map positions may be approximate and notes that some records have no location information, including many mobile caterers and home-based businesses. By bringing public rating information together in a searchable format, HygieneRatings offers a practical way to compare local food businesses and find inspection information before visiting or shopping
