About HyLICAL Project
HyLICAL is an innovative project focused on the development and validation of a cutting-edge hydrogen liquefier prototype utilizing magnetocaloric technology. Coordinated by the Institute for Energy Technology (IFE) and supported by partners such as Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR), HyLICAL aims to revolutionize hydrogen liquefaction processes by achieving a significant energy demand target of 8 kWh/kg and a liquefaction cost below €1.5/kg. The project received nearly €5 million in funding from the Clean Hydrogen Partnership, underscoring its commitment to advancing sustainable hydrogen technologies.
HyLICAL recently showcased its advancements at the International Conference on Magnetism 2024 in Bologna and organized the Dresden Days on Magnetocalorics 2023 to further explore innovations in the field. Through strategic collaborations, including investments from ENGIE New Ventures in the startup MAGNOTHERM, HyLICAL is set to enhance the efficiency and feasibility of hydrogen liquefaction, contributing to the broader goal of zero-emission transport solutions.
