Hyoho Niten Ichi Ryu – Shibu Italiano is the Italian branch of a traditional Japanese martial arts school founded by samurai Miyamoto Musashi (1584–1645). Recognized by the school’s current head, 12th-generation successor Takanori Kajiya, it is described as the only group in Italy with this recognition. The school’s main discipline is kenjutsu, the art of the sword, which held an important place in samurai training.
Its curriculum covers techniques with the long sword (tachi), short sword (kodachi), and two swords used together (nito). Students may also study the long staff (bo), the steel truncheon (jutte), and unarmed self-defense (jujutsu). The Italian branch shares information about the school and its traditions through articles, news, and a gallery, and organizes national and international seminars.
Its published events include seminars at Inyokai Dojo in Foligno, as well as international training gatherings led by Kajiya. The organization presents its practice as a way to study and preserve the teachings of Musashi’s koryu tradition
