About Institut Africain de Bioéthique
The Institute of African Bioethics (IAB) is an initiative aimed at fostering critical intellectual discussions on the advancements of biomedical technologies in Africa. With a focus on the cultural, anthropological, and social realities of African societies, the IAB specializes in bioethics education and research, adapting methodologies to the unique healthcare challenges faced in Africa. As an apolitical and non-dogmatic institution, the IAB emphasizes critical reflection and seeks to raise awareness among citizens and policymakers.
While the institute collaborates internationally with countries like Canada, Belgium, and France, it aims to become a focal point for scientific collaboration in Africa and the Francophone world. With themes covering the beginning and end of life, rights and liberties, biomedical research, longevity, artificial intelligence, and transhumanism, the IAB strives to address crucial bioethical issues in the African context. For inquiries, contact the IAB through email or join them on social media.
The IAB headquarters is located in Douala, Cameroon, while the General Secretariat is based in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Donations to support their work are also welcomed
