The Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) is a scientific research and education institution focused on astrophysics. Its work spans astrophysical research, the development of scientific instrumentation, and participation in astrophysical projects. Through its activities, the IAC contributes to the study of the Universe while supporting the technologies and international collaboration that make astronomical research possible.

The institute is closely connected with the Canary Islands Observatories, including Teide Observatory and Roque de los Muchachos Observatory. Its website provides information about observing time, sky quality and protection, and the international committees involved in observatory matters. The IAC also shares research findings through news, publications, conferences, talks, and multimedia resources.

For students and early-career researchers, the institute offers postgraduate training, including master’s and doctoral opportunities, grants, internships, and seasonal schools. Its outreach work includes educational resources, visits, media support, and public activities. The IAC also promotes technology transfer through IACTEC and provides information about employment, cooperation agreements, and projects.
