The Russian protected-area system is a national network dedicated to conserving the country’s natural heritage. It encompasses landscapes that remain largely undisturbed by human activity and includes protected areas at federal, regional, and local levels. The website reports approximately 12,000 such territories across Russia, covering about 244 million hectares. Its federal network is described as comprising 254 protected areas, including 112 nature reserves, 76 national parks, and 66 wildlife sanctuaries.

The site serves as an information resource and directory for these territories, with listings arranged alphabetically and news about conservation, research, and protected-area management. It also highlights opportunities and services connected with the reserve system, including guided nature travel, volunteering, employment, cooperation, and support for protected natural areas. News coverage addresses topics such as climate change, biodiversity loss, marine ecosystem protection, staff training, and wildlife conservation. By bringing together information about protected places, conservation initiatives, and ways to participate, the organization supports public awareness and engagement with nature protection in Russia.
