IADS, the International Academy of Diving Schools, is a diver-focused organisation founded in 1982 to represent diving clubs and individual divers and share professional knowledge. It supports a network of members, instructors and affiliated dive schools, with a mission described as “by divers, for divers. ” IADS offers diving education for a range of ages and experience levels, from introductory dives and children’s courses to beginner and advanced certifications, specialties and instructor training.
Children can start diving courses from age eight, with pathways that include Dolphin Ranger and Junior Open Water programmes. Training combines online theory, practice in a safe environment and open-water dives with an instructor. IADS says its diving certifications are recognised worldwide.
The organisation also provides e-learning, helps members apply for certifications, and arranges insurance options for recreational divers and diving professionals, including instructors and Divemasters. Its services extend to events in the Netherlands and abroad, while affiliated schools offer varied course settings and introductory experiences for individuals and groups
