The Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) is an independent, private, non-profit think tank founded in 1965 on the initiative of Altiero Spinelli. Based in Rome, it works to deepen understanding of international politics and advance European integration and multilateral cooperation. Its research covers a broad range of global and regional issues, including foreign policy, security and defence, the European Union, international political economy, energy and climate, Africa, the Americas, Asia, the Mediterranean and the Middle East, and non-proliferation and disarmament.
