Wolverhampton Advanced Motorcyclists (WAM) is a registered charity and volunteer-led advanced riding group, active since 2000. It brings together motorcycle enthusiasts who want to improve their riding skills, confidence and safety, whether they are returning to motorcycling or ride regularly. WAM’s observing team follows the IAM RoadSmart Advanced Rider Course, supporting members through a structured training journey. Each associate is matched with a one-to-one volunteer observer for the duration of the course; observers do not request expenses, beyond a drink after a session.

The course helps riders develop safer techniques, better understand their motorcycle’s capabilities and work towards an advanced qualification. Riders may pursue IAM advanced status, including Advanced Pass, F1RST Pass and Masters Rider qualifications. WAM also offers a free taster session, training resources, regular club ride-outs and social events, providing opportunities to learn and connect with like-minded bikers. Members may also be able to access competitive insurance through IAM-approved insurers. With its practical instruction and supportive volunteer community, WAM helps riders work towards becoming safer, more capable motorcyclists.
