IARMJ is an esteemed extension of the International Association of Refugee and Migration Judges, dedicated to advancing the role of judges in migration law. The association emphasizes the importance of adhering to core principles of international law, including human rights and humanitarian standards, essential for determining refugee status and ensuring protection against persecution based on race, religion, nationality, social group membership, or political opinion. The African Chapter of IARMJ plays a crucial role in promoting these principles across the continent.

It focuses on enhancing the capabilities of judges through training in refugee law, hosting workshops, conferences, and a bi-annual world conference. Representing five countries—South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Tunisia, and Morocco—the chapter facilitates cooperation and information exchange on asylum and refugee law. Led by a dedicated team of judges, IARMJ's mission is to uphold the rule of law and foster a deeper understanding of refugee rights and obligations throughout Africa, contributing to a just and secure environment for all individuals
