The Ileostomy and Internal Pouch Association (IA) is a registered charity supporting people living with an ileostomy or internal pouch, as well as their families, friends and carers. Its work focuses on helping people feel informed, connected and supported through surgery and everyday life. IA offers information and practical resources on ileostomies and ileoanal pouches, including frequently asked questions, publications, recipes and guidance for travelling with confidence.

People who would like to talk can access IA’s One2One Support, connecting them with trained volunteers who have personal experience of surgery and living with an ileostomy or pouch. The association also provides opportunities to attend or watch information-day presentations, join events, and explore stories and articles from the community. IA supports healthcare professionals and encourages involvement in research through its projects, participation opportunities and Neil Smart Memorial Research Award.

Members can also find local support groups and information about financial assistance, including a core rehabilitation funding benefit delivered with The Ostomy Studio. People can contribute through membership, volunteering, fundraising and donations
