The International Association of Ultrarunners (IAU) operates under the patronage of World Athletics and is committed to advancing ultradistance running globally while adhering to World Athletics Rules & Regulations. As the international governing body for ultradistance running, our primary goal is to enhance and promote long-distance running worldwide by fostering specific activities in each of the World Athletics Continental Areas.

Our key competitions include the 100 km World Championships, 100 km Area Championships, 24H World Championships, 24H Area Championships, Trail World Championship, and 50 km World Championship. The IAU also oversees a range of initiatives such as our Council and Area Representatives, Member Federations, Partnerships, Constitution, Congress, and Election processes.
