The Ibarra Foundation is a South Texas organization dedicated to helping young adults explore STEM fields and become successful, contributing members of society. Founded by Beatriz Ibarra in memory of her father, Delcuidor, the foundation draws on her experience in engineering, including a B.S. in Applied Engineering Sciences from Michigan State University. Its mission is to share opportunities and knowledge with students, particularly those from the South Texas community, under the spirit of “Puro 956.”
A central program is the Delcuidor Ibarra Scholarship, which supports graduating seniors at Rio Hondo High School who plan to pursue a STEM-related college major. The scholarship has offered two awards: a first-place award of $800 and a second-place award of $400, along with sponsored graduation caps and gowns and graduation stoles. Applicants are asked to submit a résumé and have a LinkedIn profile; the program does not require a minimum GPA. The foundation also highlights its scholars, scholarship recipients, and events, and provides contact information for questions.
