Ibsenforbundet

Ibsenforbundet is an independent Norwegian association for people interested in Henrik Ibsen and his dramatic works. It promotes awareness of the playwright’s life and writing through literary activities, cultural events and opportunities for members to explore his enduring significance. The association organizes reading circles in which participants read an Ibsen play in advance and meet to discuss their impressions and different interpretations in an informal setting. Its events also include cultural excursions, arranged with partner organizations, featuring visits to galleries, historic estates and other cultural attractions.

Ibsenforbundet publishes Ibsenmagasinet, a magazine highlighting topics such as Ibsen’s influence, his connection to Skien and preparations for the 2028 bicentenary of his birth. The organization also offers a bookshop and invites interested people to become members, supporting its work to foster engagement with Ibsen’s life and literature. Through publications, discussion groups and shared cultural experiences, Ibsenforbundet brings readers and enthusiasts together to discover and discuss the playwright’s work.
