ICAN Austria is the Austrian branch of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons. With over 600 partner organizations worldwide, we are dedicated to stigmatizing, prohibiting, and ultimately eliminating nuclear weapons. In recognition of our significant contribution to the realization of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW), we were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2017.

Currently, we are actively working towards the universal implementation of this treaty. At ICAN Austria, we focus on raising awareness about the consequences of nuclear weapons, including the production, deployment, and testing processes. Through our campaigns, we highlight the humanitarian impact caused by these weapons, such as the devastating effects of nuclear testing and the long-term health risks associated with radiation.
