About IC Archival Research
ICARUS is an international consortium that supports archives and related institutions in navigating the challenges of the digital age. With over 180 member institutions from more than 30 European countries, Canada, and the USA, ICARUS focuses on building and maintaining digital infrastructures, developing common standards and strategies, and fostering international collaboration. The ICARUS community adds significant value to existing activities and networks by advancing the collective potential of archives and academic institutions.
The non-profit organization operates under Austrian law, with a board responsible for the economic and strategic goals. The board, led by a president and supported by vice presidents and other key roles, oversees daily operations, project management, partnerships, and networking. Through a collaborative approach, ICARUS strives to innovate, share expertise, and generate digital content to drive the field forward
