The Institute for Children in Crisis and Adversity in Africa (ICCA) is a Ugandan nonprofit organization focused on addressing child adversity and multidimensional poverty. Registered with Uganda’s National Bureau of Non-Governmental Organisations, ICCA works to help children access essential rights and services, including nutrition, healthcare, education, water, shelter, sanitation, information, and protection. Its approach recognizes that child poverty involves more than low income: it also includes deprivation in multiple areas of a child’s life.
ICCA’s programmes cover child health and nutrition, early childhood development and education, child protection, and child participation and inclusion, alongside supplementary programmes. The organization also promotes food security and invites supporters to donate and help children in need. Its work targets 95 districts across 13 regions of Uganda over a ten-year period, with initial focus on areas facing high levels of child poverty and vulnerability, including Karamoja, West Nile, Buganda, and Acholi. Guided by its team and board of trustees, ICCA works with partners to support children and communities across Uganda.
