Icelandic Roots is a nonprofit, non-political charitable organization dedicated to educating people about Icelandic heritage and preserving and promoting Icelandic culture, history, language, and genealogy. It welcomes people of Icelandic ancestry and anyone interested in Iceland, bringing together a global community through research, learning, and shared stories.

Its services include an online genealogy database and historical archive built from original records, more than 3,250 vetted sources, and ongoing research. The collection documents family histories and includes extensive material on Icelandic emigration from 1855 to 1914. Members and researchers can access genealogy training, lectures, seminars, webinars, cultural programs, and online gatherings, as well as a book club and private Facebook group. Public resources include a podcast, articles, community histories, and virtual events. The organization also offers research support, translations, heritage grants, and scholarships, and invites families to contribute through its Cousins Across the Ocean project. Supported by volunteers, memberships, and donations, Icelandic Roots is developing the Rootshús, a planned interpretive and educational center for Icelandic heritage.
