Ice Sports Australia (ISA) is an organisation established by Andrew Shelton to promote the development of a world-class ice-sports facility in metropolitan Melbourne and support the growth of ice sports in Australia. Its major project has been the National Ice Sports Centre, widely known as the Icehouse, in Melbourne’s Docklands. ISA was the proponent for the facility, organised the project and worked closely with ING Real Estate Development Australia to help deliver it.
Over a decade, the organisation brought together a team to design and develop the venue. The Icehouse opened in 2010 as Melbourne’s first international-standard ice-sports facility and became the new home of the Olympic Winter Institute of Australia. ISA continues to support the Icehouse’s operations and actively promotes ice sports across the country.
Its work centres on developing and backing facilities that help provide a home for ice-sports activity, with the Icehouse representing its principal achievement to date
