ICFO (The Institute of Photonic Sciences) is a frontier research center of excellence focused on fields where photonics plays a decisive role. Its research spans advanced and quantum materials, energy and the environment, quantum science and technologies, BioNano and medical photonics, light-matter interactions, and ultrafast science. The institute organizes its work around the applications of light in health, energy, and information, supported by research groups, publications, and specialized facilities.

Alongside scientific research, ICFO offers education and professional development through master’s programs in photonics, multidisciplinary experimental sciences, and quantum science and technology, as well as PhD fellowships, postdoctoral training, internships, fellowships, and research stays.
