About Houston Indian
IDA Houston, the Indian Doctors Association of Houston, is a nonprofit organization founded in 1983 for physicians and dentists of Indian origin in the Greater Houston area. Its mission is to connect healthcare professionals, inspire future generations, and serve the community. Recognized by the Harris County Medical Society as part of its Council of International and Affiliated Medical Societies, IDA Houston is also one of the largest local chapters of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin.
The organization brings members together through networking mixers, cultural events, and professional development opportunities, including an annual ethics continuing medical education course. Its community programs include health camps, free screenings and consultations, wellness seminars, charity clinics, and volunteer mission trips. IDA Houston also offers mentorship for students pursuing medicine, from high school through residency, and awards scholarships to support aspiring healthcare professionals. Endowed medical school scholarships support students at McGovern Medical School, UTMB, and the University of Houston.
