About IDC CDI
Established in 1925, the Secrétariat International des Partis Démocratiques d’Inspiration Chrétienne (SIPDIC) is the first international gathering of Catholic-Christian democratic parties. With member parties from various European countries, SIPDIC aimed to promote Christian democratic ideals. Although the operations of SIPDIC were suspended during World War II, it reemerged in 1947 as the Organización Demócrata Cristiana de América (ODCA) and the Nouvelles Équipes Internationales (NEI) was formed by European Christian Democrats to foster European integration and counter communism.
Over the years, these organizations evolved, leading to the establishment of the Christian Democrat International (CDI) in 1982, subsequently changing its name to the Centrist Democrat International due to an increasing membership of non-Christian political parties in 1999. Since then, CDI has expanded its political, communicative, and organizational skills, and it continues to provide political analyses for Christian democratic parties around the world
