About Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs
IDEAS Malaysia is Malaysia's premier think-tank dedicated to advancing market-based solutions for public policy challenges. With a focus on promoting a competitive economy, ensuring trust in institutions, and fostering inclusivity, IDEAS strives to create a better Malaysia. Their research spans various topics, including economics and business, public finance, democracy and governance, and social policy.
Through their research, IDEAS aims to provide innovative solutions to pressing public issues. In addition to their research endeavors, IDEAS also hosts a range of events, both past and future, that provide a platform for exchanging ideas and knowledge. They also offer digital media publications, allowing for wider access to their research findings.
One notable project undertaken by IDEAS is the ASEAN Prosperity Initiative (API), which explores the opportunities and challenges presented by the ASEAN economy. IDEAS Malaysia also collaborates with other organizations on initiatives such as the BRI Monitor, which promotes transparency in major infrastructure projects in the region. They play a key role in cultivating empathetic conversations on national unity and inter-racial harmony through the movement called Kita, Bukan Kami.
Overall, IDEAS Malaysia's commitment to rigorous research, market-based solutions, and promoting inclusive policies makes them a driving force in shaping Malaysia's public policy landscape
