The Dominican Institute for Oriental Studies (Idéo) is a premier research institution situated in Cairo, dedicated to the exploration of Islamic heritage and the theological and philosophical contributions of Islam. Established in 1953, Idéo fosters interfaith collaboration through its immersive research programs that unite scholars in the study of original Islamic texts from the first ten centuries. The institute is also integral to Domuni University, offering specialized education and training in Islamology.

Idéo houses the BIDEO, the largest private library globally focused on Islamic heritage, which boasts nearly 300,000 bibliographic records. Additionally, the institute publishes MIDÉO, a refereed journal that discusses historical and doctrinal subjects pertinent to the Arab world. The Anawati Chair, initiated in 2023, promotes interreligious dialogue and addresses contemporary issues surrounding extremism.
