The Irish Draught Horse Society (Great Britain), known as IDHS (GB), is a society dedicated to preserving, protecting and promoting the Irish Draught breed. Formed in 1979 by enthusiasts seeking to register Irish Draught-bred horses in Great Britain, it has since grown to serve horse owners, breeders and supporters of both purebred and part-bred Irish Draughts. The Society is a Passport Issuing Organisation and provides online applications for membership, horse registrations, passports and inspections.
IDHS (GB) offers information and services covering horse registration, ownership transfers, duplicate and utility passports, overstamping and central prefix registration. Its inspection programme includes purebred and sport horses, mares, geldings and Hornby Premium inspections. Members can also access a database, regular news sheets and a merit awards scheme for mares and stallions.
The Society organises and supports shows, events and competitions, including its National Championship Show and regional Irish Draught and hunter shows. It shares breed news, educational resources, event galleries and horses for sale, and provides information about stallions at stud and frozen semen in the UK.
