The Indonesian Medical Association (Ikatan Dokter Indonesia, or IDI) is the professional organization representing doctors across Indonesia. Its stated mission is to strengthen medical ethics, collegiality and professional solidarity, while supporting a healthy and dignified society. IDI describes its vision as fostering Indonesian doctors who are ethical, independent and professional. The organization has a nationwide network of 33 regional offices and 242 branches, serving more than 32,000 members, and is affiliated with the government through Indonesia’s Ministry of Health.
IDI supports the medical profession through educational and scientific activities, including continuing medical education, training and workshops. Its website provides information on the Indonesian Doctors Competency Examination and publishes medical and ethics journals, including the Journal of the Indonesian Medical Association and the Indonesian Journal of Medical Ethics. The association also shares professional news, event announcements and resources for doctors, and highlights public health initiatives such as a school program on first aid for children.
