The Indonesian Medical Association, known as Ikatan Dokter Indonesia (IDI), is the professional organization that represents and supports doctors across Indonesia. It works in affiliation with the government through the Ministry of Health and aims to foster ethical, independent, and professional medical practice, strengthen collegiality among doctors, and contribute to a healthy and dignified society. IDI has a nationwide network of 33 regional organizations and 242 branches, serving more than 32,000 members.
The association provides organizational information and access to regional services, while supporting professional education and development. Its activities include medical competency examinations, training and workshops, continuing medical education partnerships, and scientific events. IDI also publishes medical journals, including the Journal of the Indonesian Medical Association and the Indonesian Medical Ethics Journal, and shares health information and news about the medical profession. Guided by its “IDI Reborn” renewal initiative, the organization seeks to become more independent, modern, accountable, collaborative, and effective in preparing for the future of healthcare in Indonesia.
