The Institute for Development Studies (Sabah), or IDS Sabah, is a research institute and think tank serving Sabah, a developing state in Malaysia. It supports the Sabah State Government with objective advice, independent research, and analysis that complement existing information and research capabilities. Its work addresses policy challenges involving diverse public expectations and the need to use and distribute the state’s limited resources efficiently and equitably.

IDS Sabah conducts research through its research wing and maintains information on current and past projects. It shares knowledge through publications and public resources, including press releases, facts and figures, News Scan, Borneo Review, IDS Watch, a research data hub, and infographics. The institute also organizes events, seminars, and conferences, and invites the public to participate in online polls and view their results. Its website provides updates on recent activities and upcoming events, as well as institutional information and directory links. Based in Penampang, Sabah, IDS Sabah offers research-informed perspectives on issues relevant to the state.
