The Israeli Institute for Economic Planning

The Israel Institute for Economic Planning is an applied research institute working to shape Israel’s economy into a freer, more competitive and open market with fewer barriers and stronger support for entrepreneurship, innovation and growth. Politically and sectorally independent, the institute identifies structural problems and market failures that hinder economic development, develops research-based proposals and promotes practical solutions. Its work addresses issues affecting businesses and consumers, including the cost of living, market concentration, competition, bureaucracy and corruption.

Current and recent projects and publications examine employment subsidies during crises, reasons small and medium-sized businesses close, competition in concentrated markets, food and personal-care prices, opening the credit market to competition, and Israel’s tax policy. The institute also shares its analysis through research publications, position papers, media appearances and public discussions, including virtual roundtables. By combining systematic research with a focus on implementation, it aims not only to explain what needs to change in Israel’s economy, but also to help ensure that effective structural reforms are carried out
