Inštitut za ekonomska raziskovanja is an independent research organization that generates fundamental knowledge and conducts top-notch research in the field of economics, crucial for the sustainable development of the Republic of Slovenia. They focus on various research areas such as competitiveness and development, technological development and innovation, social inclusion and pensions, healthcare and long-term care, business consulting, labor market and education, regional and structural development, environment and sustainable development, and culture and the creative sector. Their research on competitiveness and development examines the state and measures for improving competitiveness, considering intensive internationalization of business, innovation at all stages of production, and rapid advancements in new technologies.
They also study technological development and innovation, analyzing research and development activities of companies, as well as policies and measures implemented by the government to promote such activities. Furthermore, they contribute to understanding the economic situation and social inclusion of different population subgroups, as well as the impact of social welfare, family, tax, and pension legislation in the field of social inclusion and pensions. Their research on healthcare and long-term care focuses on addressing challenges related to the organization and financing of healthcare and long-term care, aiming to provide the best possible outcomes for patients based on the resources invested.
The institute also offers business consulting services, combining scientific research with expert advice. They analyze the dynamics of entrepreneurship and business responses to current challenges, such as the 2008 economic crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic. In the field of labor market and education, they conduct microeconometric research based on administrative and survey data.
Their studies include analyzing time allocation and emotional exhaustion during the COVID-19 pandemic in Slovenia.
