The Institute of Ecological Technology (IET) is a distributed, self-organizing research institute focused on exploring non-conventional ideas and solutions in ecological technology. Formed in the late 1970s, IET was strongly influenced by ideas from Austrian naturalist Viktor Schauberger and has since undergone several transformations. Today, it serves as a focal point for groups and individuals interested in alternative ecological approaches.

IET’s purpose is to encourage discussion and cooperation among people seeking practical ways to advance ecological change and make sustainable alternatives real. Its work includes research activities, as well as sharing knowledge through books and reports. The institute also supports exchange and collaboration through events such as the International Workshop on Natural Energies (IWONE). The 2023 workshop, held in Höör, Sweden, explored water-related topics, including alternative water-treatment methods, energy extraction, and approaches to healing nature. IET provides a meeting place for people interested in examining unconventional ecological ideas and considering how they might contribute to environmental solutions.
