About IFPA
The Irish Family Planning Association (IFPA) is Ireland's premier sexual health charity, dedicated to promoting the right of all individuals to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health information and accessible healthcare services. Since its establishment in 1969 by a group of passionate volunteers, the IFPA has played a crucial role in shaping the sexual and reproductive health agenda both nationally and internationally. In 2019, the IFPA celebrated its 50th anniversary, highlighting its commitment to advocating for the highest standard of sexual and reproductive health and rights in Ireland.
Today, the IFPA offers a wide range of services on a not-for-profit basis. These include comprehensive sexual health promotion, pregnancy counseling at multiple centers nationwide, and clinics in Dublin city center and Tallaght that provide confidential and affordable healthcare services. Additionally, the IFPA delivers contraceptive training for medical professionals and sexual health training for service providers, young people, parents, and community groups.
Renowned for its expertise and commitment to high-quality medical, counseling, and education services, the IFPA collaborates with partner organizations and civil society to raise awareness about sexual and reproductive health and rights globally. Their mission is to empower individuals to make informed choices about their sexual and reproductive health and understand their rights. The IFPA is a limited company and has charitable status.
