IgartzaBeasain

Igartza is a historic monument complex in Beasain, presented as a landmark of the town’s identity and heritage. Its buildings and landscape reveal different aspects of local life: the ironworks and mill reflect the area’s industrial roots; the palace offers insight into social history; and the Dolareko inn and bridge recall Beasain’s importance as a crossroads. The hermitage and wayside cross represent religious beliefs, while the Oria River is central to the site’s story. Its water power was harnessed through the canal and millpond.

Igartza offers visitors ways to explore this heritage through its museum, historical and heritage resources, guided and theatrical visits, and walking routes. Its programme also includes workshops, educational activities for primary and secondary school groups, and events throughout the year. The site provides information on topics including industrialisation and the Middle Ages, and its facilities are available for rental. Located in Beasain, Igartza is managed in connection with Beasain Town Council and welcomes visitors interested in the town’s history, architecture and cultural heritage.
