iGEM Stockholm

Bringing together students from universities in Stockholm and sometimes elsewhere, the team draws on backgrounds including biology, computer science and engineering. Its work combines scientific research with collaboration, entrepreneurship and community engagement.

Each year, team members develop a synthetic biology project, contribute to the open registry of standard biological parts and share knowledge with other teams and industry leaders. The project is organized across several areas: wetlab research and experiments, drylab modelling and computational work, human practices and community outreach, media and communications, and finance and sponsorship. Through human practices, the team engages stakeholders, local communities and schools, using feedback to help shape its work and bring synthetic biology beyond the laboratory.
